Casey Roche wins USATF Junior Olympics Pole Vault! Freshman Casey Roche beat a field of the nation’s best young Pole Vaulters with a mark of 15’ 5" to win the USA Track and Field Junior Olympic Pole Vault. Casey’s mark also qualifies him to represent the USA in next year’s World Youth Championships in Morocco. |

More USATF Junior Olympics… Sophomore Taylor Franklin cleared 11’ 3.75" to take third place in the USA Track and Field Junior Olympic Pole Vault. Taylor’s mark may also qualify her to represent the USA in next year’s World Youth Championships in Morocco. Sophomore Kyle Mills-Bunje, competing in only his second Decathalon, finished twevkth in the Young Men’s devision of the USATF JO. Taylor Franklin ties for 4th at State Meet in Pole Vault! Sophomore Taylor Franklin jumped 11-08 at the State Meet this weekend to capture of share of the 4th Place medal. Only 3 girls cleared 12-00 and 1 girl cleared 12-06. |

SFHS sends 4 athletes to the State Meet! Boys take 3rd. At Friday nights CCS Finals the Saint Francis Boys team captured 3rd place in the section while qualifying 4 athletes to compete in the State Meet next week. Those advancing are sophomores Taylor Franklin (PV) and Sela Paini (SP), freshman Casey Roche (PV) and junior Kyle Chronis (PV). |

Ben Sitler sets F/S 3200 Meter school record! Sophomore Ben Sitler, running in an extremely fast CCS Finals 3200 race that saw six runners qualify for the State Meet, set the new F/S School Record in the 3,200 meter run with a time of 9:21.34. Ben set the previous record of 9:23.45 earlier this year. |

St. Francis Qualifies 14 Athletes for Friday’s CCS Finals! A total of 14 athletes in 12 events have qualified for the CCS Finals this Friday evening. For the Varsity Boys: Pat Smith (4x100, 100), Oliver Platner (4x100, 200), Desmond Howard (4x100), Steve Aros (4x100), Kevin Chaves and Ben Sitler (3200), Nick Sheuerman (Discus, Shot Put), Kyle Mills-Bunje (Long Jump, Triple Jump), Casey Roche, Kyle Chronis and Doug Roche (Pole Vault). For the Varsity Girls: Samantha Williams (400), Sela Paini (Shot Put) and Taylor Fanklin (Pole Vault). |

St. Francis Boys win WCAL Meet. Co-League Champions! The Varsity Boys team finished the season tied with Archbishop Riordon for the WCAL crown with their impressive 149 to 109 win at the WCAL Finals on Saturday. The team was lead by many outstanding performances including 3 1st place finishes by Kyle Mills-Bunje in the Triple Jump, Long Jump and High Jump. Other event winners were Oliver Plattner in the 200, Nick Sheuerman in the Discus,. Kevin Chaves in the 3200 (Ben Sitler in 2nd), and Casey Roche in the Pole Vault (also 3rd in the HJ and LJ). The Pole Vaulters took 1 – 4 in the event and qualified Casey, Kyle Chronis, Ben Campi and Doug Roche to the CCS trials next week. |

Kyle Mills-Bunje San Jose Mercury News Athlete of the Week! From the SJMN: "Mills-Bunje won three events at the West Catholic Athletic League finals Saturday, helping the Lancers win the team title. His triple jump of 44 feet, 3 ¾ inches, was the sixth-best in the CCS this season, and his marks in the high jump (6-2) and long jump (21-9) ranked fourth and ninth, respectively, in the section this year." |

St. Francis F/S Boys set 2 WCAL Meet Records. At the WCAL League Championships, Sophomore David Glassanos helped set two F/S Meet Records. David won the Pole Vault on Thursday with a vault of 13’ 2". On Saturday David teamed up with J.J. Moody, Thomas Evans and Ryan Perry to set the League Meet F/S Record in the 4x100 Relay with a time of 44.93. |

Nick Sheuerman throws 174’ 3" – Ties School Record! Senior Nick Sheuerman tied the Varsity School Record in the Discus with a throw of 174’ 3". Nick co-holds the record with Greg Winkler who set the record in 1987. |

Nick Sheuerman San Jose Mercury News Athlete of the Week! From the SJMN: "In a dual meet last Wednesday, Sheuerman won the discus and the shot put to help St. Francis defeat Sacred Heart Cathedral 113-22. Sheuerman went undefeated in dual meets this season, and his mark of 172 feet against Sacred Heart Cathedral was the second best in the Central Coast Section this year. His mark of 49-11 in the shot put was a personal best and ranked ninth in the CCS this season." |

Dual Meet Season Complete. VG Boys 2nd, VG Girls 3rd. St. Francis completed its dual meet season today with solid victories over Sacred Heart Cathedral at SFHS. The varsity boys team finished the season in 2nd place with only one loss to Archbishop Riordan. The Varsity Girls finished the season in 3rd place. |

Casey Roche …. Freshman Casey Roche, again, set the Freshman School Record in the Pole Vault on Saturday at the Sacramento Meet of Champions with a mark of 15’ 0". This is the fifth time this year Casey has broken this record with previous jumps of 13’ 7", 14’ 0" 14’ 6" and 14’ 7". Casey is currently ranked as the #1 Freshmen in the State in the Pole Vault. |

Boys 4x200 School Record falls! At the Mt. Sac Relays this weekend the Varsity Boys 4x200 Meter Relay team of Oliver Plattner, Pat Smith, Ryan Perry, and Desmond Howard ran a time of 1:31.89 – beating the old record set in 1994 by Anthony Johnson, Eric Lewis, Mark Hassani-Azad and Steve Cross. |

The Ben Sitler saga continues…! Saturday at the Saint Francis Carnival Ben Sitler broke F/S School Record in the 1 Mile run with a time of 4:20.33. The old record of 4:26.69 was set way back in 1978 by Sam Crowley. |

Friday night the team of Allison McGuire, Esa Cate, Elle Meulman and Jillian Bowman set the Varsity Girls Record for the Distance Medley Relay with a time of 13:04.03. The old record of 13:05.95 was set by Samantha Williams, Mandy Loretz, Jilian Bowman, Esa Cate just last year. |

Ben Sitler on Fire! For the 3rd time in less than 1 week Ben Sitler has set yet another F/S School Record. He again (this is the third time) set the record for the 3,000 meter run with a time of 8:39.18 – 14 seconds faster than he ran last Saturday at the West Valley Relays. This caps a week in which he set the F/S School Records in the 3,000 on Saturday, the Mile on Wednesday and the 3,000 again on Friday. |

More School Records Fall! For the second time in 5 days, Ben Sitler broke another F/S School Record. This time he bested the 26-year old record in the 1,600 meter run. His time of 4:22.69 broke the old mark of 4:24.7 set by Sam Crowley way back in 1978. Later in the same meet Casey Roche broke his own Freshman School Record in the Pole Vault with a mark of 14’ 0". |

F/S Boys win WVR – Set 2 Meet and 3 F/S School Records! The Lancer boys had a great day at the West Valley Relays. There were many outstanding marks including a F/S Meet Record of 8:53:43 by Ben Sitler in the 3,000 meter run. The old record of 8:59.39 was set by Bret Gotcher in 2000. The time is also a new F/S School Record – breaking his own record of 8:58 set only last month. The F/S Boys 4x100 meter Relay Team broke the old F/S School Record set in 1975. The old record was 44.4. The new record is 44.09. The new F/S School Record in the Distance Medley Relay was set by the team of Kyle Stewart, Kevin Rouse, Eric Johnson and Alex Blease. The new record is 11:31.89. Casey Roche also set the F/S Meet Record in the Pole Vault with a mark of 13’ 2". However, official meet results current list him as a no-show (we all saw him vault!). Complete meet results are provided below with pictures. |

Taylor Franklin San Jose Mercury News Athlete of the Week! From the SJMN: "Accomplishment: In Wednesday's 89-39 victory over Presentation, Franklin had an impressive pole vault of 12 feet, the top mark in the state this year, and also anchored the 400-meter relay team, which finished in 50.44 seconds. The Lancers won both events and picked up their first victory of the season. Franklin also won the pole vault at the Archbishop Mitty Invitational on Saturday with a vault of 11-0, and helped the Lancers win the 400 relay with a time of 51.06." |

St. Francis sets 18 Meet Records at Mitty Invitational! The Lancers had a great day at the Archbishop Mitty Invitational—setting 3 F/S Girls, 9 F/S Boys, 3 Varsity Girls and 3 Varsity Boys records at the meet. The boys won both the Varsity and F/S team titles, while the girls finished 2nd in the Varsity and 4th in F/S divisions. Complete results are available below. |

Casey Roche sets Frosh Pole Vault school record! Freshman Casey Roche set the Freshman School Record in the Pole Vault at the Mitty Invitational at 13’ 7". The height set the meet Varsity record as well. The previous record was set by Ben Sheehan in 2003. |
