Girls Head Coach Mrs. Benham joined the coaching staff in 2007 as the boys and girls High Jump coach. In 2009 she assumes the role of Head coach and Girls Distance coach. She will also continue to work with the High Jumpers. Ms. Benham is also an assistant coach for the Girls Cross Country team and was the Head coach in 2007. Mrs. Benham previously was an assistant coach at Lynbrook High School. Mrs. Benham ran cross country and track in both high school and in college. |

Boys Head Coach Mr. Saso has coached Track and Field for 23 years and Cross country for 15. This is Mr. Saso’s eighth year at St. Francis. Mr. Saso’s teams have sent athletes to the State meet in 21 of his 23 years as a Track coach. He has also coached 9 W.C.A.L. Team Titles in Track and Cross Country, and 4 C.C.S. Team titles in track and Cross Country (including the 2006 Boy’s team to their first Boys title in school history). Additionally, the 2006 team was honored as the Nike Web National Team Champions. Mr. Saso was also the 2004 Olympics Trials coach for Juaune Armon in the long jump. |

Varsity Girls Sprint Coach Mrs. Chisam has been a full-time teacher at St. Francis since the Fall of 1986. She currently teaches Biology, Marine Biology, and is the Moderator for Environmental Club. Mrs. Chisam competed in Track and Field in both high school and college. At UCLA she competed in the 400 hurdles, discus and javelin. Mrs. Chisam also competed in 3 National Championships (1987-89) in the Javelin. She was a member of AIAW National Championship teams in 1975 and 1977. Mrs. Chisam was an Assistant Coach at UCLA from 1978-1984. The teams won NCAA championships in 1982, 1983. She has coached many NCAA and USA champions, and members of 1980, 1984, and 1988 Olympic teams. She was a 1984 Olympic Coach for Malta. She was appointed to National team coaching staffs for World University Games, Jr. and Sr. National teams, and Sports Festival Games from 1995 through 2000. Coach Chisam has coached at St. Francis since 1987. She was the head coach from 1993-2003; winning CCS championships in 1995 and 1996. She is also a CCS representative to the State Board for Cross Country and Track 2000-2006 |

Boys and Girls Long and Triple Jump Coach Ms. Cliett joined the track team in 2006as an assistant coach. In 2009 she takes over responsibility for the Long and Triple Jumpers. Ms. Cliett was a triple jumper and hurdler in high school. |

Boys Distance Coach Mr. Curley has been coaching the boys distance runners at St. Francis in Track and Cross Country since 1983. He has been coaching high school Cross Country since 1975. Mr. competed in High School Cross-Country, and Track, briefly in College, and in various road races and marathons. Coach Curley is a six time CCS Coach of the year in Cross-Country, and a CCS Cross-Country Honor Coach. Since 1992, Boys Cross-Country has won five WCAL Varsity team titles, six CCS Varsity team titles, and were State Champions in 1998. Mr. Curley is a full time Religious Studies teacher at St Francis High School, and teaches Adult Education-Scripture Study. |

Assistant Coach Mr Fuller competed in Track and Field and Cross Country at Carlmont High School (1970 – 1973) and San Jose State University (1973 – 1978), and competed in road races and marathons until 1987. Mr. Fuller started coaching in 2000 at Scotts Valley High School (3 years as Head Cross Country and 4 years as Head Track coach for both the boys and girls teams). Mr. Fuller joined St. Francis in 2003 as the JV/Soph Cross Country coach and an assistant Track coach. In 2005 Mr. Fuller took over the head coaching job and the distance coaching responsibilities for the Girls Track team. From 2005 through 2008 the Girls Varsity team has accumulated a record of 26-2 and the Junior Varsity team won the WCAL Championship all 4 year. In 2006 the team captured the WCAL title and took third in CCS. Mr Fuller also designed and maintains the Boys Cross Country, Girls Cross Country and Track team web sites. |

Frosh/Soph Boys Head
Coach Mr. Johnson joined the track team in 2003, and is currently the Frosh/Soph Boys Head Coach and the boys and girls hurdles coach. Mr. Johnson graduated from Saint Francis in 1994 as a member of two championship football teams, and was a standout sprinter and hurdler in track and field. Mr. Johnson currently teaches mathematics at St. Simons School. Mr. Johnson returns to Saint Francis every fall to coach in the JV football program. |

Frosh/Soph Girls Sprint Coach Mr. O’Connor joined the St. Francis Track program in 2005. Mr. O’Connor has competed in 10Ks and a couple of marathons. Mr. O’Connor has coached the St. Francis Soccer team since 2000, and St Francis Cross Country in 2005 and 2006. A majority of Mr. O’Connor’s experience and participation is in soccer, and is using that expertise to improve the quality of St Francis’s Girls sprint teams. |

Boys and Girls Pole Vault Assistant Mr. Stahler joins the Saint Francis Track program this year as an assistant Pole Vault coach. |

Boys and Girls Pole Vault Mr. Tuite is starting his forty-second year at St. Francis. Throughout his distinguished career at St. Francis he has coached Boys and Girls Cross Country (several consecutive CCS championships) and Track, high jump and, most recently, the Pole Vault. Under his guidance St. Francis has produced boys and girls CCS champions in the Pole Vault and was responsible for St. Francis being described as “the best high school pole vaulting program in the country.” Mr. Tuite competed in cross country and track at Junipero Serra High School and San Jose State where he was on the NCAA Championship team in cross country. |
