WCAL III- The (nearly) End of the Season

The start of the Frosh/Soph Girls race at the WCAL Championships on Wednesday at Crystal springs marks the end of most of the girl’s 2008 Cross Country season.

WCAL III

On Wednesday at the WCAL Championships at the Crystal Springs Cross Contry Course in Belmont several girls qualified for the SFHS All-Time Crystal Springs Marks.  In the Varsity race Adriana Romero (20:27) moved up to the #19 spot for Juniors, Annelise Brochier (20:08) made it onto the #22 spot for Juniors, and Taylor Groseclose (19:41) snagged the #8 spot on the Sophomore list.  The Varsity team also took over the #14 spot for the teams that have run at Crystal springs since 1986 (22 years ago).  Nice job ladies!

Team Dinner

The team gets together several times per year to eat good food, discuss cross country and the team, and to have a good time.  Here are some pictures from the last dinner held at the Albini’s home..

Crystal Springs Invitational

On Saturday at the Crystal Springs Invitational in Belmont several girls qualified for the SFHS All-Time Crystal Springs Marks.  In the Varsity race Courtney Albini (19:54) moved into the #18 spot for Seniors, Adriana Romero (20:25) made it onto the #23 spot for Juniors, and Emily Sitler (19:30) snagged the #6 spot on the Sophomore list.  Nice job ladies!

CCS At-Large Times Announced

The Central Coast Section (CCS) at-large standards have been announced.  These are the times that a team must run at either Crystal Springs or Toro Park in order to qualify for the CCS Meet if they do not finish in their league meet for an automatic qualifying place.  The complete list of at-large standards is available here.  For Saint Francis this year (D2), our marks are:

The 2008 Divisions have been announced.  The complete CCS listing is available here.  The WCAL teams are:

 

D2: (1551 – 2000)

                Mitty (1661), Presentation (1638), Saint Francis (1622)

D3:  (1190 – 1550)

                Saint Ignatius (1427), Riordan (1284), Sacred Heart Cathedral (1269),
                Valley Christian (1216), Notre Dame Belmont (1302)

 

The top 3 teams in Division II at the CCS Championships qualify for the State Meet.  There are no DI, D IV or DV Girls teams in the WCAL.
