WCAL Championships Finally, the results
are in. The Varsity team continued to improve with a
third-place finish in this race to finish the season in third behind St.
Ignatius and Bellarmine. The Lancers were lead again this week by Kyle
Stewart (#3 in 16:09), Phil Pompei (#8 in 16: 15)
and Mike Calcagno (#14 in 16:38). The Varsity team qualified
for the CCS Championships next Saturday at Toro Park in Salinas. The team
also made it onto the All-Time Crystal Springs
List with a team time of 83:16. |

CCS At-Large Standards
There are two methods for qualifying from the WCAL Meet to the CCS Meet in Cross Country in 2006. The first, and preferable, is to qualify by finishing in the top half of the league. The second is for the team to run a time at Crystal Springs or Toro Park to automatically qualify for CCS. Division
2 - Boys At-Large Standards For The CCS Meet We currently qualify on both courses for D II CCS. |

Crystal Springs Invitational With the Sophomore and Junior Varsity teams devastated by injury and a band competition, we combined the remainder of both teams into one and ran them in the JV race. Leading the way into a sixth place finish was Tim Gates (10 in 17:40) and Steven Foster (11 in 17:48). They were followed by Alex Devlin (39 in 19:07), Brendan Welch (40 in 19:10) and Chris Lee (46 in 19:26). The Freshmen team finished third. They were led this week by Seth Newmeyer (12 in 18:17). Seth was followed by Colton Wright (19 in 18:33), Kyle Anderberg (20 in 18:47), Ian Midiere (26 in 19:00) and Dashiell Leeds (34 in 19:12). |

Clovis Invitational The Varsity Boys traveled to Woodward Park in Fresno (the site of the California State XC Meet) this Saturday for the Clovis Invitational. The boys were entered into the Championship race. While their team score may be disappointing (25), it hides many fine personal efforts. In fact, if the team had run in the Division 3 race their team time of 1:25:49 would have been the #2 time in that race. Leading the way again this race (the Varsity team’s third race in eight days) was Phil Pompei with a time of 16:22. This moves Phil from #15 to #11 on the SFHS All-Time Woodard Park List. He was followed closely by Kyle Stewart (16:37; moving from 23 to 20 on the list), Kevin Murphy (17:23), Tim Gates (17:37) and Will Connor (17:51; running under the name Mike Calcagno). Click here for the complete results of the Championship and D3 races. |
